Northern Cemeteries is embarking on the development of a new chapel at Frenchs Forest Bushland Cemetery.
The new chapel is one of a number of projects aimed at meeting the needs of the community, as we proudly provide a respectful space for families and friends to honour their loved ones.
The chapel has been architecturally designed to beautifully complement the bushland setting and residential surrounds of the cemetery.
The project will include an upgrade to the existing Lorikeet Room to make it a dedicated function room, an amenities block in the northern part of the cemetery, as well as car parking and landscaping.
A development application for the chapel and function centre development was submitted to Northern Beaches Council in April 2020.
Northern Cemeteries held a community consultation meeting at Frenchs Forest Bushland Cemetery on Thursday 18 June to discuss the proposed chapel and function centre development. Sixteen (16) local residents, including two (2) Northern Beaches Councillors, attended the meeting and were provided the opportunity to ask questions and make comments with regard to the proposed development. The meeting was also live streamed enabling additional community members to observe the proceedings.
The architect, town planner and project manager for the project, as well as Northern Cemeteries management, attended the meeting and responded to the questions. The meeting was chaired by an independent facilitator engaged by Northern Cemeteries.
The questions raised at the meeting and the responses provided are summarised in the document below.
Northern Cemeteries will continue to provide updates here as the project progresses. Residents and community members are encouraged to contact Northern Cemeteries with any questions or comments regarding the development.
