Our History
In 2012 the NSW Government announced an historic reform program to ensure burial needs are met now and into the future.
Northern Cemeteries is the amalgamation of the Macquarie Park Cemetery and Crematorium Trust, Field of Mars Cemetery Trust, Frenchs Forest Bushland Cemetery Reserve Trust, Gore Hill Memorial Cemetery Trust and in 2013, Sandgate Cemetery Trust.
The amalgamation of the trusts enables greater co-operation, achievement of operational efficiencies and provides accrued capital for acquisition of new burial lands to ensure:
- That no faith is disadvantaged
- That the immediate shortage of burial space in NSW is addressed
- That burial needs for our future generations are met now and into the future
- To establish accountable financial, governance and operational systems to ensure trust funds and assets are managed efficiently and transparently
