Qingming at Macquarie Park

The Qingming festival, also known as Tomb-Sweeping Day in English (sometimes also called Chinese Memorial Day or Ancestors’ Day), is a tradition where families visit the tombs of their ancestors to clean the gravesites, pray to their ancestors and make ritual offerings.

Visit Macquarie Park Reception during office hours on Thursday 1 April and Saturday 3 April to receive a complimentary Northern Cemeteries bag*.

Burning bins will be available for our families to recognise their ancestors from Thursday 1 April – Monday 5 April, and will be located in the following areas: Traditional Monumental, Chinese Section, Casuarina Grove, Garden of Eternity, K Chinese, Sakura Gardens, and Waratah Gardens. Please take care when handling burning bins as they may still be hot from previous use.
